Resale Ledger builds original, computed fee calculators for resale marketplace sellers. This page explains how the numbers are sourced and where we're less than fully confident.

How we source fees

Every fee number starts at the platform's own help center or fee page. We record the exact URL and the date we checked it. Where a platform's page blocked automated access, we tried its underlying help-center API before falling back to independent, secondary coverage — and any secondary-sourced number is labeled as such, both here and on the relevant platform page.

Known gaps and open questions

We would rather leave a number out than guess it. These are the specific points our research could not fully verify from a primary source:

• TikTok Shop: whether 'Customer Payment' in the referral-fee formula includes buyer-paid shipping is not stated in the public article.
• TikTok Shop: a flat $0.30 per-order fee and a 3%-for-30-days new-seller promo are mentioned only by secondary sources and are left out of fees.json and the calculator.
• TikTok Shop: the reported 2026-08-04 increase to 8%/9.5-11% is secondary-only; TikTok's own Seller University article had not been updated to reflect it as of 2026-09-25.
• eBay: Store-subscriber discounted final value fee rates (vs. the non-Store baseline recorded here) were not itemized.
• Poshmark: the primary support.poshmark.com article could not be fetched directly in this session (TLS error); figures are secondary-sourced.
• Depop: optional boosting/'Bump' fees exist but are variable/opt-in and were not quantified.
• Whatnot: 'custom' sub-3% commission rates offered to the very highest-volume sellers with dedicated account managers are not published, so are excluded.

How the calculators work

Every calculator on this site — the per-platform pages and the home page comparison tool — runs on one shared JavaScript module (fees.js). The static worked examples on each page and the live, interactive calculator both call the exact same functions, so there's no separate "example" math that could drift from what the calculator actually computes. The module has no external dependencies and ships with the site's own static files, so it runs entirely in your browser — no sale data is sent anywhere.

Where we link to a third-party tool through an affiliate program, that link carries its own disclosure directly beside it. All figures are estimates for planning purposes; always confirm current fees on the platform itself before pricing or listing an item.
