How Whatnot fees work
Whatnot pays sellers based on a live-shopping/marketplace model where commission is charged only on the item's hammer price, never on shipping. Since September 21, 2026 that commission is no longer a flat 8%: it steps down across seven volume tiers (Standard through Tier 6), and the tier that applies to your NEXT four-week selling period is set by how much you sold, across Live shows, Marketplace and Shop combined, in the four-week period that just ended. Rates also vary by category — Fashion and "Other" drop the fastest with volume, Coins start lowest of all, and Sports/TCG step down the most gradually. On top of commission, Whatnot passes through a standard card-processing fee (2.9% + $0.30 in the US) on the full amount charged to the buyer. A separate rule, live since January 14, 2026, zeroes out commission on the portion of an item's price above $1,500 in a specific list of collectible-leaning categories — useful if you sell higher-ticket cards, comics, coins, bags or jewelry.
