How eBay fees work
eBay's final value fee is the big line item: a percentage of the item price, shipping, handling and any tax eBay collects, charged at a rate that depends on category and — for a few categories — drops once the sale crosses a dollar threshold. Most categories sit at 13.6% up to $7,500 per item (2.35% on anything above that). A handful of categories run differently: Books/Movies & TV/Music runs higher at 15.3%; Coins & Paper Money is slightly lower at 13.25%; and Jewelry & Watches and Women's Handbags both charge 15% up to a lower threshold ($5,000 and $2,000 respectively) before dropping to 9%. On top of the percentage, every order carries a flat per-order fee: $0.30 for orders of $10 or less, $0.40 above that. These are the standard rates for sellers without an eBay Store subscription — Store subscribers can unlock reduced rates or fee credits in some categories that aren't broken out here.
